JISPは、南スーダンやその周辺国の難民が居住するカロベエイ新居住サイト（ケニアトゥルカナ郡）で、子どもにやさしい空間「CRC（チャイルド・リソース・センター）」を運営しています。

現在約400人の子どもが利用登録しており、トレーニングを受けたファシリテーターや保護者の会が子どもの支援にあたっていますが、今課題となっているのは、難民の生活の不安定さがゆえに、ファシリテーターが長く仕事を続けるのが難しいことです。

そこで、子どもに適切なサポートを提供できる人材を、難民コミュニティの中でさらに多く確保するために、追加人材の育成に取り組んでいます。

2月には、子どもの保護問題に関心が高く、ボランティア経験もある若者48人に対して、5日間の研修を2回行いました。

この研修では、ファシリテーターに求められる資質や能力、子どもへの心理社会的支援、子ども向けアクティビティやその計画の仕方、特別なニーズを持つ子どもへの対応やセルフケアなど、広い分野にわたり学んでもらいました。

次のステップとして、合格者の研修受講者には、実際にCRCで8日間オンザジョブ・トレーニングに従事してもらい、その後ボランティアとしてCRCで子どものサポートに携わってもらう予定です。

たくさんの若者たちが子どものケア人材として育ってくれるのを、
私たちも大変楽しみにしています。

JISP has been operating a child friendly space “Child Resource Center (CRC)” in Kalobeyei Settlement (Turkana County, Kenya) for the refugee children from South Sudan and and its surrounding countries.

As of today, around 400 children are registered as CRC users, and trained facilitators and guardian’s association are providing support to the children.
One of he challenges we have is that it’s difficult for many of the trained facilitators to continue the work in a long term due to instability of their lives.

To overcome this issue, we decided to train more human resources who are capable of providing appropriate care to children from the refugee community by conducting additional trainings.

In Feb, we conducted 2 sets of 5 day training for 48 youth whose awareness on child protection issue is high and who also have volunteering experiences.
In this training, a wide range of topics were covered including the qualities and capacity required of facilitators, psychosocial care for children, various activities for children and how to plan them, responding to the needs of children with special needs and self-care.

As the next step, qualified participants will engage in an 8 days on-the-job training at CRC, after which they will be qualified to support children at CRC as volunteers. We are very much looking forward to seeing many youth to be trained as care providers for children.

JISPは、南スーダンやその周辺国の難民が居住するカロベエイ新居住サイト（ケニア　トゥルカナ郡）で、子どもにやさしい空間「チャイルド・リソース・センター（CRC）」を運営しています。

2年前に建設され以来、子どものケアにあたるファシリテーターの能力強化や、施設の環境改善、コミュニティへの意識啓発などに取り組んできましたが、現在のフェーズでは、難民たちがCRCを自らの力で運営できるよう、CRCに通う難民の子どもの保護者から構成されるCRC委員会や現地団体（カトリック系教会）へのメンタリングを行ったり、子どものケアにあたる人材をさらに難民コミュニティから育成したりしています。

2月半には、48人のボランティア候補を対象に5日間の研修を実施しましたが、今後彼らはCRCでの実地研修を経て、CRCで子どものサポートにあたる予定です。2/27、28には、ドナーの(特活)ジャパン・プラットフォームから4人のモニタリングチームが訪問くださり、活動内容のモニタリングや、受益者や関係者のインタビューが行われました。

先週も最大で一度に320人もの子どもたちがCRCを訪れてくれました。難民コミュニティが、これからも子どもたちのためにCRCの運営を継続できるよう、この取り組みを継続していきます。

Since founded in March 2018, we have been working on building capacity of the facilitators who are the care providers of the children, improving the environment of the facility and raising awareness of the beneficiary communities.

In the current phase, we are conducting mentoring of CRC Committee (organization made of the parents/guardians of CRC user children) and a CBO (a Catholic church established by refugees), and training of additional care providers from the refugee community.

In mid February, 48 residents from refugee community participated a 5 days training The participants plan to start supporting children at CRC as volunteers upon completing an 8 days on-the-job training.

On the 27 &28 Feb, we welcomed a monitoring team of 4 members from the donor organization, Japan Platform. The team conducted monitoring of our activities, as well as interviews with our beneficiaries and various stakeholders.

Last week, our CRC was visited by as many as 320 children per afternoon!
JISP is committed to continuing this initiative to build capacity of the refugee community to continue providing a safe space for children.

【JISP】ネパールで新規事業の署名式が実施されました！！

【ネパールで新規事業の署名式が実施されました】

2/20　在ネパール日本国大使館にて、
ネパールで開始予定の新規案件の贈与契約の署名式がとり行われました。

大使館からは西郷正道駐ネパール大使、
JISPからは代表理事の吉田真由美が署名者として出席しました。

またカトマンズ市防災部、現地提携団体のNFYN、過去事業に参画した
支援団体や専門家がかけつけてくれました。

当団体は、約9,000人が犠牲となった2015年のネパール大地震以降、
同国での心理社会的専門家の育成や、災害対応の向上のための取り組みを、
外務省の助成のもとに継続してきました。

これまでは、コミュニティ支援に関わる個人や支援団体・機関を中心に
能力強化を行ってきましたが、今回の事業では、カトマンズで「モデル地区」を選抜し、カトマンズ市防災部との連携のもと、これらの区で日本の自主防災組織と同様の取り組みを立ち上げるための支援を行います。

もちろん、心理社会的支援の側面からも、能力強化を行っていきます。
この事業には、過去の事業で育成してきた現地専門家が、今度は支援実施を
サポートする立場として参加してくれます。

【A signing ceremony for a new project in Nepal was conducted】

On 20th Feb 2020, a signing of a Grant Contract between Mr. Masamichi Saigo, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Ms. Mayumi Yoshida, Representative Director of JISP, was implemented for a project to be started in Nepal soon.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of Disaster Management Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), local partner organization and various local support organizations and professionals who participated in our past training program in Nepal.

JISP, with the support of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been continuing training of psychosocial professionals and activities to improve community disaster response, since the occurrence of the 2015 Gorkha Earthquakes which claimed the lives of nearly 9,000 people.

In this project, we’ll collaborate with the Disaster Management Department and Urban Health Department of KMC in launching a mechanism similar to Japanese “Jishubo” or Voluntary Disaster Prevention Organization in a few selected Model Wards within KMC.

As an NGO focusing on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, training on psychosocial care will continue to be part of important objectives in the new program.

It is worth mentioning that the local professionals who were trained in our past projects will be supporting implementation of this new program by using their skills gained from our program.

We look forward to staring this project and working with the people of Nepal for the improvement of disaster response in Kathmandu City!
